This project began in 2002 as an idea of Julian Pantoja, after the dissolution of his band Ad Libidum. During this time he decided to start a solo project entering in the world of electronic music combined with the traditional spirit of rock, to create "K", showing himself as a multi- instrumentalist and composer.
In December 2002 he participated in the campaign for government against AIDS and drug addiction, “Voz a la Tarima”, with 2 songs: “Ultimo Acto” and “Cumbia Platanera”. This was the first song airplay on several local radio stations.
During this process he counted with the cooperation of his former colleagues. So he recorded his first LP in 2003 called "Kharma Libido" and began to appear in different universities in the city in a solitary way. Then he saw the need to assemble a band, but with the idea of having flexibility of its members and its musical style. So "K" was transformed into “Kolectivo K”, where you can find different artists permanently or temporarly to create music.
Some members who has participated previously: Ana Maria Rodriguez (choirs), Julian Londoño (guitars), Gina Moreno (female vocal, percussion), Nicole Bucher (violin and viola).
Since 2004, Pablo Pantoja is linked to the band as DJ, after volunteering as a sound engineer in several of their concerts. In 2005 Juan Carlos Quiceno, becomes a permanent part of the band playing keyboards and trumpet. And Juanita Peña is the female vocalist since 2007.
They have gave showcases and concerts at several venues, universities, parks and clubs in Cali, Medellin and Popayan. In 2006, Kolectivo K joined the project “La Rockomotora”: A compilation CD with 17 of the best rock bands from the city, with the song "Houdini". Participated at the Festival of Music held on June 21 in Medellin (2007) and Cali (2008 and 2009) where they had excellent reviews from the audience. They also participated in the "Vuelta a Rockombia" of the Colombian journal “Shock”.
They have had Airplay in radio stations and web stations in Colombia (Bogota, Medellin, Cali, Cartagena and San Andres), Argentina, Mexico and USA with good reception from his audience.
In 2009 asist to LAMC (Latin Alternative Music Conference) in New York, looking for open the boundaries of their music and showing them as international artists.
